Wellness is about making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life. It is more than being free from illness. It is about more than just your physical health.

Change and growth

Wellness is about change and growth for many areas of your life.

It can include

  • what we fuel our bodies with nutritionally, as well as emotionally and spiritually
  • financial wellbeing
  • the environment you live in
  • your knowledge and skills
  • finding purpose in your work
    your relationships.

Your wellness action plan will be unique to you. It will contain the things you need to do to stay well.

It can also include who to contact if you’re not feeling well, mentally or physically.

Key points to keep in mind

Here are five important things to keep in mind when writing your wellness action plan

    • Have hope. People who experience mental health difficulties can, and do, get well. They achieve their goals and meet their full potential.
    • Take personal responsibility. It's up to you to do what you need to do, to keep well.
    • Education is key. Learn all you can about what you’re experiencing so you can make good decisions about your life.
    • Speak up for yourself. Reach out to others to get what you need, want, and deserve to support your wellness and recovery.
    • Support is vital. Working towards your wellbeing is your responsibility. But receiving support and giving it to others will help you feel better and enhance your quality of life.
